VOTE! VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!

I haven't written in my blog for several months. Truthfully, I became so discouraged with what I saw happening in my country, and I felt so powerless to change it, that I stayed away from expressing myself in my blog.

Watching how regular people, like me, are waking up, speaking out and rallying around constitutional principles and fiscal responsibility has given me a renewed spirit. I have HOPE again! Not the kind of Hope that Obama promised, but a Hope that we can now put this country back on the right path if we elect the right people in this election.

NOW WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO VOTE! If we can do nothing else, we must vote! All the protests in the world don't have the power of the VOTES of the American people.

When you vote, don't make your decisions based on what these politicians SAY. Look at what they have DONE! Do you agree with what they've done? Has it helped you?

We need to put new ideas and old principles back into Congress. We need to rid ourselves of those who don't listen to us and have only their own self interests at heart.

VOTE for a better America!

Obamacare

Under Obamacare it is estimated that 34% of physicians will LEAVE the practice of medicine in this country and, at the same time, it is estimated that 33 million MORE people will be added to the healthcare plan. How is that going to work for you ????

Now Congress needs to REFUSE TO FUND Obamacare and then they need to REPEAL it completely. We need to legislate reasonable reform for health care in ways that encourage doctors to enter the field of medicine, not leave it. We need to create reform that doesn't cost you a fortune and that takes away your right to control your own medical care.

VOTE IN THE PRIMARIES!

Many states are having primary elections this month. These elections are important because from them the actual candidates will emerge for the final elections in November. This is a critical time in our country and the candidates who will vie for our votes in November need to be high caliber people who will work to restore our economy and our nation! Don't just listen to what they SAY. More importantly, investigate who they are and what they have DONE. These primaries are important, so don't forget to VOTE now - and AGAIN in NOVEMBER.

BIKE FROM SEATTLE TO PORTLAND? NO PROBLEM!

Ron and Kelly biked 200 miles last Saturday in the Seattle to Portland bike race. . . AND they did it in ONE day instead of two days like most riders in the race. About 10,000 riders do this annually. This is the 2nd time Ron has successfully completed this trek, the first time being 4 years ago.

Last year he attempted it and had a bad crash about half way through that damaged his bike as well as split his helmet! He was determined to do it again, and finish this time.

Not bad for a guy who's turning 70 years old in September!

Kelly, who's done this race several times, took up the challenge to do it in one day with Ron, and he did it!

CONGRATULATIONS GUYS! You done good!

The Tragedy in the Gulf.

Remember when the Bush administration was crucified in the media over the government's delay in giving aid to Katrina's victims (even though Louisiana's governor had refused the federal government's aid)? Now the oil spill in the Gulf is considered the greatest ecological disaster of all time . What a tragedy for those states and the people who live and work there.

The Obama administration has performed abysmally in the wake of this disaster. Yet, we see very little criticism in the media (except for FOX). Instead the President is using the disaster to promote his political agenda of stopping offshore drilling at the expense of thousands of jobs in an already devastated area. He is looking for whose "ass to kick"! Nice language for a President. He's throwing blame around everywhere.

The truth is that the federal government is more responsible for the oil spill than BP! They recently gave that oil rig safety awards! Then, when the spill occurred, the federal government refused offers of help from all over the world. The government's environmental agencies stopped the governors from taking action to prevent oil from reaching their shores. The President chose NOT to waive the Jones Act (as President Bush did after Katrina) in order to allow foreign workers to assist in cleaning up the oil.

When Saddam Hussein destroyed oil wells at the end of the Gulf War, millions of gallons of oil spilled into the sea. Saudi Arabia brought dozens of ships in, and the oil was cleaned up in a matter of days and most of the oil recovered. Why couldn't we have done the same thing?

Months into the oil spill, and now our beaches are contaminated with oil. The fishing industry in the area has been devastated. Thousands are out of work. Wildlife are dying in the oil.

But President Obama is playing golf! Ah, life is good!

What will July 4, 2011 bring?

As we celebrated July 4th yesterday, I thought about how different our country is now compared to a few years ago. In past years, I watched the fireworks and felt so proud to be an American. Now, I look at the fireworks and I have a feeling of fear for our country and for our future.

Our nation is at a critical juncture where we can either proceed to correct the errors that have been made and move our country back to its core principles, or we can proceed down the current path to loss of freedom and economic catastrophe.

We have a President and Congress who do not value our Constitution and who knowingly violate it, simply because they can! These "progressives" believe that the Constitution is a "changing" document, so, realistically, it becomes whatever they want it to be! They no longer feel constrained by the limits placed upon government by the Constitution. This puts us in very dangerous territory and threatens our freedoms and our republic.

We have a President and Congress who think they have a credit card without limits to spend the American people's tax dollars. They have no concept of fiscal responsibility. If any of us managed our money the way Congress manages our tax dollars, we would be in bankruptcy. That's where our country will be if something doesn't change. The government is supposed to work for US--not us work for them! They cannot continue to strangle our economy with heavy taxation and excessive government spending.

We have a Congress whose members make a career out of being in Congress and whose votes can be bought by special interests and anyone who contributes to their campaigns. They pass legislation and make laws in areas where they have no expertise or experience. Yet, we are all supposed to believe that they know what is best for us! All I see is the mess these career politicians have made of our economy and our country. We need term limits!

This is a critical time. In November, we must put people in office who will stand up for the Constitution and the restrictions it puts on government. We must elect people who will NOT SPEND OUR MONEY unless it's absolutely necessary. There are times when we just have to say NO to those who would constantly have their hands in the taxpayers' pockets. We must stop the downhill slide of our economy and go back to free market principles.

I hope we can do this. Will we be proud to be Americans next July 4th, or will fear, frustration and anger be in our hearts instead? Make your vote count in November!

President Obama's Tribute to Memorial Day.

President Obama is going to honor Memorial Day--by going on VACATION! As of now, he plans to NOT go to Arlington Cemetery to place the wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, as Presidents for generations have done! As Commander and Chief of all the United States military forces, he chooses to spend Memorial Day on VACATION! People who have members of their family who have served, and sometimes been injured or died, on behalf of the United States, should all take notice of how their President dismisses the sacrifices made by America's military. He fails to honor veterans and instead celebrates Memorial Day by going on VACATION! It's comforting to know we have such a "great and honorable" man as President of the United States.

Mob Intimidation the tactics of President Obama's friends!

On Sunday, May 17, a mob of about 500 people, members of SEIU and NPA trespassed onto the lawn of Greg Baer's home. Mr. Baer is Deputy General Counsel for Bank of America,. They shouted into bullhorns and carried signs and made inflammatory speeches. All this happened in front of Mr. Baer's house while only Mr. Baer's 14 year old son was at home. The local police came, but did nothing to dispurse the crowd. The group had no lawful permits to demonstrate and certainly no right to trespass on Mr. Baer's private property.

This is all part of a campaign called "Showdown in America" which is supported by the SEIU (Service Employees International Union) and the NPA (National Political Action). This campaign has organized these mob tactics, in March, storming into Wall Street banks and demonstrating. These demonstrators terrorized the bank workers and customers in the bank.

Is this what we have to look forward to in this country? Mob intimidation of private citizens and legal and legitimate businesses? As long as we have the Obama administration in power we will have this type of "bully behavior" because the people supporting this campaign are President Obama's close friends. SEIU and NPA are encouraged to pursue this type of behavior because they know they have the silent support of the President. With that support they are basically untouchable and immune from legal repurcussions.

Andy Stern, former President of SEIU, has visited the White House more than any other person. Andy Stern now is a member of the President's "Debt Commission" that is supposed to tell us how this country is going to get out of debt! (What a joke that is!)

John McKnight, mentor of Obama, is also the organizer of NPA. Obama and McKnight have been friends since Obama's student days.

This all looks like President Obama is coordinating with unions to intimidate private citizens and break laws by trespassing and attempting to occupy and shut down bank buildings. He holds these organizations under his wing and thus emboldens them to employ mob rule and bully tactics to get their political views recognized.

This is an insight into the type of ethics employed by this White House. President Obama has been a Union supporter during his entire career. SEIU contributed $70 million in political contributions to campaigns of Democrats in 2008. Now the President owes SEIU big time, as do many members of Congress.

We can expect harrassment and intimidation by unions and left wing organizations as long as President Obama lives in the White House. We need to EVICT him!

TEA PARTY PARTICIPANTS ARE A JOKE!

In a recent speech President Obama commented on the rallys that took place around the country on April 15. He said he was "amused" by the rallys and that these people "should be saying thank you"!

This comment speaks volumes about President Obama and his view of American citizens. He openly mocks the American people who don't agree with his agenda and who choose to express that dissent. He prefers to portray those who disagree with him as "radicals" and "fringe groups", not recognizing that the Tea Parties represent a diverse sample of American society.

His comment reveals his lack of respect for our democratic form of government. His socialist ideology espouses the philosophy that an elite group makes the decisions for the majority of the people and thus the government obtains complete control over it's citizens. That ideology is the reason he said that the Tea Party people should be saying "thank you" to him because "their taxes have actually been lowered". This is a perversion of the truth and another Obama word game. The ultimate result of his agenda is going to raise everyone's taxes!

President Obama has no respect for our Constitution. He knows that many of his actions are in direct violation of the Constitution. He doesn't recognize the right of the American people to openly disagree with the prevailing administration or the policies of the government. He thinks we should all fall in line behind him and not question his policies or his decisions regardless of their constitutional validity.

When President Bush was asked about how he felt about demonstrations against his administration, he responded that they had a constitutional right to express their opinions. He never made derogatory comments about the people who disagreed with him.

President Obama's comment makes it alarmingly clear that he is not sympathetic to the wishes and concerns of the American people, and those that openly express their dissent only "amuse" him. They are so insignificant to him that he jokes about them in his speeches.

That "joke" is about you and me! In November the ballot box needs to show that the "joke" has a voice, and we say "NO".

WHO IS WORKING FOR US?

With Congress' back door passing of the Health Care bill, I ask myself, "Is there anyone in Congress who is actually working for his constituents and not just for himself?" It's all about power, greed and getting re-elected to the gravy train that Congress is riding! It's not about the health and well being of the American people.

We now have a group of "elites" who think they have the right to make decisions for us as to how we will live our lives and what we will be able to do with the money we earn! Of course, what they choose for us is not what they choose for themselves. President Obama is living like a "king" and acting like a "ruler" instead of an elected official of the American people. Congress is acting like they are "aristocrats" who who have the right to direct our lives.

Now WE ARE THE PEASANTS who serve these people. They spend our money. They tromp on our Constitution and the limits it places upon them. They disregard our freedoms. They tell us that they know best what is good for us. Now, they also control our medical care. What else can they get control of? Unfortunately, as we continue to march toward socialism, they will be able to control even more!

Our only recourse is to VOTE THEM OUT OF OFFICE before they manage to take that right away from us too! We need to put people in office who respect the Constitution and respect the ability of the American people to control their own lives and their own destiny.

YOU HAVE TO LISTEN CAREFULLY!

Words have specific meanings. The words uttered by President Obama need to be carefully evaluated in order to determine what he really means by those words. For example, he recently announced the expansion of offshore oil and gas exploration in selected areas off the coasts of the United States. Many people felt it was "about time" that offshore drilling was allowed. Actually, he only promised "new exploration", not actual drilling.

The policies announced by the President will actually decrease and delay future US oil production! The President actually cancelled 4 leases off the Alaska coast that were planned to begin producing oil within the next 2 years. He delayed a planned lease off Virginia until at least 2012, and placed some areas of our coastlines off limits for at least 7 years. There is absolutely no guarantee that any new drilling will ever occur. Secretary Ken Salazar's Interior Dept. still has full discretion to never allow a single drop of oil to be harvested from these waters.

President Obama's goal is not to create private sector jobs for Americans and new revenues for financially strapped states. His real goal was expressed by the President's Energy Secretary, Steven Chu, (another radical) when he said "Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels of Europe". Gas in Europe is about $8 per gallon!

The President is very good at using his words to imply one thing, while actually meaning something totally different. He is an orator who uses words to distort and deceive, so that his true intentions are masked and hidden. You must listen very carefully to what he says and then evaluate his words by his actions. The words often mean something different to him than they do to you!

Baby Jameson Cudworth arrived!

Melissa and Kelly's son was not going to wait around to come into this great big world! He was born March 2nd, three weeks early! I received a call at 4:30 am from Melissa telling me her water broke, and I barely made it to Seattle in time to be with Missy when she delivered the baby. It was a short and intense labor, but she was a real trooper.

Jameson arrived at a bouncing 5 lbs 7 ozs! He was little but loud! He's healthy and cute as a button. Welcome to the Child family, Jameson!

THE REAL OBAMA

Little by little even the people who voted for Obama are starting to see who he really is! He's a good speechmaker (as long as he has a teleprompter) but he isn't a good President! His campaign approach was to tell the people what they wanted to hear. Now that he actually has to govern, it's a totally different ball game. Now, he actually has to make good on his campaign promises, make decisions regarding the military, national security, foreign policy and other issues critical to our national well being. He is poorly equipped to govern and it shows.

He is still trying to campaign! He is constantly setting up and attending all kinds of meetings which are mostly public relations stunts aimed at trying to convince the American people that he is actually doing something. Other than spending our tax dollars, not much has actually been accomplished.

You can tell the worth of a tree by it's fruit. Obama's fruit is high unemployment, a slow economy, lax foreign policy, botched national security and runaway deficit spending! It's been a year since he took office. It's not George Bush's fault anymore. It's the failed policies of Obama and his liberal Congress that are holding our country down.

Let's clean our house in November. Let's elect conservatives who will give us back our jobs and give us tax relief! Elect people who want America to be strong and want to protect our people from those who want to harm us. To hell with giving rights to terrorists! Let's get back our right to live freely, which the government is taking from us bit by bit.

Support good candidates. Take back our country!

A MODERN DAY REVOLUTIONARY WAR

Thank you, Massachusetts! It is apropos that this decisive action to elect Senator Scott Brown should happen in the place where the Minute Men fired "the shot heard round the world" and began the American Revolutionary War. The colonists battled an oppressive British government who continued to tax and spend without consent of the people in America. Sound familiar? The people of Massachusetts have rallied again and given hope to the entire country.

President Obama's comments the day after the election were very telling. He said that the American people "did not understand" (his ideology) and were "angry" (for the last 8 years!). He said that he would have to communicate with the American people in a different way so that we would understand what he is trying to accomplish (or what he wants us to know). He sounded like a parent who had errant children and he needed to talk sense into them and change their behavior! He doesn't consider his agenda as unpopular, just how we "understand" it! So he'll probably lie to us again, but this time, we can't afford to believe him! (I can't wait to hear what he says in his State of the Union address!)

The dangerous thing about the ideology of President Obama, his czars, the Democratic leaders in Congress is that they are "progressives".

The progressive ideology is different from just being a liberal. It wants to break free from what they consider to be a false and divisive form of government, the Republic as established by our founders and our system of checks and balances. They believe that government is the bestower and protector of the rights they assert should be afforded equally to everyone. They think that the Constitution should be a changing document to accommodate the needs of society. Progressives believe that "the ends justify the means". If they can't achieve their goals one way, they will just take a different direction to accomplish the same thing, because it's for the "good" of all.

President Obama and his Chicago style of governing, has even more radical ideas than most progressives. He was mentored by radicals and he has chosen radicals to serve in his administration. His own narcisism makes him believe that HE knows what is best for us (like our parent), and he will do anything necessary to force his agenda on the American people.

He will continue to portray the banks and private businesses as the "bad guys" because that's what progressives believe. These entities are a threat to the power and control of the government. He will continue his push for federally controlled health care. He will continue to push for Cap and Trade. If he can't get these issues passed through Congress, he will accomplish it through his czars and the agencies that he controls. He will bribe, threaten and twist arms in Congress and in his administration to get what he wants. Beware!

Unfortunately, we have 3 more years of this. With a more conservative Congress, perhaps we can put up more barriers in the road and slow spending and taxing to a crawl. We need to have the courage of the Minute Men of Massachusetts, and fight them where we live--at the ballot box! We must vote out the progressives and liberals, who have caused our economic problems. We must elect people who have firm conservative values that, in the past, have always led to prosperity and have protected our freedom.

THE BANKS AREN'T THE ENEMY!

In my 65 years of being a politically aware citizen, I have never experienced a presidential administration with such an aggressive agenda to blame private industry and portray them as the enemies of the people. At a time when so many people are suffering the effects of a poor economy, it is easy to hold up the banks as the bad guys--bad guys that should be punished by taxation! According to Obama, oil companies, financial institutions, banks, insurance companies, and even doctors and hospitals, are greedy, dishonest and abusive of their powers.

He makes a huge issue of bonuses and compensation of executives in private industry, as though, somehow, their compensation is taking food out of our mouths! Why is it that we hear nothing about the compensation of the union leaders, who, by the way, were huge contributors to his campaign, and who are regular visitors to the White House. We hear nothing about compensation to the executives of Chrysler and General Motors, because cronies of Obama control those companies. We hear nothing about the huge bonuses given to the CEOs of Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac! We hear nothing about bonuses to AIG executives. We hear nothing about huge bonuses and wage increases given to federal employees in a time of deep recession. We only hear about the compensation of employees in industries targeted by the administration.

Now President Obama is pounding the banks in an effort to justify his plan to pass additional taxation on banks, under the guise that this is somehow "payback" for the tarp funds that were paid out! Unless my memory fails me, the TARP funds were forced on many banks by the government, and many banks were initially not allowed to pay back the loans when they attempted to do so! Much of the money, however, has been paid back, with interest! Banks rushed to pay the TARP funds back when they realized the extent of control that the federal government asserted over them. The administration didn't like that. They want the control. So now they want to control them by taxation!

President Obama is framing the banks as the enemy--an enemy who must be punished by taxation. Will taxing the banks help the average person in any way? Is this going to make getting a loan at a bank any easier? You and I both know that any taxation on the banks will filter down to the people who use those banks. The banks will increase the fees we pay for banking and borrowing to compensate for these new taxes! Taxation on any industry always filters down to the consumer. Banks, like all other businesses, pay many taxes and comply with numerous government regulations. This tax on banks is just another attempt to bring in more money into the federal coffers and to gain more control over banks.

President Obama is following Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals" perfectly. He is making enemies out of the very institutions who support our economy and provide the means for people to maintain and improve their standard of living. According to him, these institutions are "bad" and must be punished and controlled by government in order to protect the people! This is another step in destroying our capitalistic system and replacing it with government control, known as "socialism".

Just listen to the Obama, Pellosi, and Reid rhetoric. It always blames someone and it always accuses other entities of being the "bad guys" who must be controlled and/or punished by government. Anyone who disagrees with them is the "enemy". In reality, the REAL ENEMIES of the American people are in the WHITE HOUSE and in CONGRESS!

LET YOUR CONGRESSIONAL REPRESENTATIVES KNOW THAT YOU OPPOSE A BANK TAX!

300 LUCKY PEOPLE! WHO WILL BE UNLUCKY?

There are 300 people walking around today thanking their lucky stars that a terrorist's ignition device failed on their flight! While disaster was averted, we must consider what a tragedy this would have been had that terrorist been successful.

In the first year of the Obama presidency we have now seen 2 major terrorist attacks, Ft. Hood and Northwest Airlines. I have no doubt there will be more.

Does anyone wonder why, with all President Obama's efforts to appease the Muslim nations and make America look like a kinder, gentler country, that the terrorist attacks on America are increasing?

Why, with President Obama's promise to close that horrible Guantanamo Bay prison, does AlQaeda seem to be increasing in size and strength? After all, we are told that AlQaeda uses Guantanamo Bay as a recruitment tool, so one would surmise that the closing of the prison (specially constructed to house dangerous terrorists) would lessen AlQaeda's ability to recruit members?

Why! Because that logic is ALL WRONG! AlQaeda was recruiting members long before Guantanamo Bay prison was ever constructed, and will continue to do so long after it is closed. The motivation of this terrorist organization is simply religious extremism and hatred.

I recall that, after 9/11, the Bush administration kept our homeland safe from domestic terrorism for almost 8 years! Already, barely 1 year in office, Obama has 2 strikes! Will a third strike make him OUT or will our nation just have to suffer the consequences?

Terrorists respect and fear only one thing - POWER. Unless America shows strength of will and a determination to seek out and destroy terrorism wherever it may hide, we might as well make up our minds that we will be the victims of continued attacks against our homeland. These muslim extremists have a goal to destroy all of us who are not of their blood. We are Infidels and need to be exterminated, according to their beliefs. There is nothing we can do to change that. Our only choice is to be stronger than they are. To fight them wherever they exist and to protect our homeland at any price!

Unfortunately, in President Obama's recent speeches, I don't hear that determination. I hear a President who only wants to be on the "defensive" and is not very good at that, given the botched security with the recent airline disaster attempt.

I don't have a lot of confidence in the Obama administration's ability to keep terrorists from our shores, when they can't even keep uninvited guests out of the White House! Think about it!

We are on a weak and ineffective course in the fight against terrorism. We have 300 lucky people still alive. The people at Ft Hood weren't so lucky. How many more unlucky people will we have before we can vote out the President who has given us change that could very well kill many of us!

GOVERNMENT HEALTH CARE IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL

The health bills in Congress rob you of your constitutional rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness! Here are a few of the provisions in the bills that fail the constitutionality test.

The mandate included in these health care bills to make people purchase health insurance exceeds the government's constitutional authority. Senator Orin Hatch said on the Senate floor, "If Congress may require individuals to purchase a particular good or service . . . We could simply require that Americans buy certain cars . . . for that matter, we could attach the problem of obesity by requiring Americans to buy fruits and vegetables." The Constitution does not give the government the authority to require that citizens purchase ANY products, including insurance.

Section 3403 of the Senate bill establishes a commission to CUT Medicare spending. As if that isn't bad enough, it also states that the law CAN'T be changed or repealed in the future! If Congress does this, it means that any bill passed by Congress could never be changed or repealed! That totally undermines the Constitutional representative government. The Constitution gives us the right to elect a new Congress, to repeal what a previous Congress has done, and to change anything that Congress does by the appropriate vote.

Some Congress members claim the "general welfare clause" of the Constitution empowers them to impose a mandate to purchase health insurance. They are taking the phrase out of context. The Constitution gives Congress power to tax and spend for the general welfare, but not to make other kinds of laws for the general welfare (like mandating citizens to purchase insurance)!

The Senate bill (pages 320-324) claims the "interstate commerce" clause of the Constitution gives Congress this authority. For half a century the states have regulated health insurance. In fact, individuals are barred from buying insurance in any state except where they live, the antithesis of interstate commerce.

In 1995, the Supreme Court admonished Congress ( US vs. Lopez) against using the commerce clause as a basis for expanding lawmaking. The case involved the federal government assuming authority over areas that were under the authority of the states. The court ruled that Congress must stick to its Constitutionally enumerated powers.

Congressional majorities have frequently resorted to the commerce clause to justify their lawmaking. In 1935 the Supreme Court declared the National Industrial Recovery Act unconstitutional. In FD Roosevelt's first term, under the NIRA, the federal government attempted to micromanage local businesses, setting wages and hours. The NIRA was declared unconstitutional!

Nothing in the Constitution permits the federal government to intrude into decisions made by doctors for privately insured patients, except on narrow issues such as drug safety. But the Senate bill makes you enroll in a "qualified plan" and then says that only doctors who do what the government dictates can be paid by your plan. Qualified plans can only contract with doctors who follow the regulations established by the Dept. of Health and Human Services!

The "takings clause" of the Fifth Amendment bars government from taking your property without compensation. It should protect everyone - including insurance companies. The Senate bill actually caps insurance company profit margins well below current levels, thus robbing private shareholders of their profits. What will stop Congress from putting caps on profit margins on other businesses that they wish to target?

These are only a few of the Constitutional conflicts in the health bills that have passed in Congress. Now, ordinary citizens, like you and I, will have to stand up for our Constitutional rights.

THE MOST CRITICAL ISSUE WITH THIS GOVERNMENT HEALTH CARE BILL IS THAT IT SETS A VERY DANGEROUS PRECEDENT! It will give the federal government almost unlimited power to intrude in every facet of our lives, and in every facet of our economy. It will lay the foundation for single payer health care as it forces private health insurance plans out of business. It is extremely dangerous to our personal freedoms.

Congress and the President needs to be reminded that the Constitution defines and limits their powers. They are not dictators or kings who can act at their whim. They are elected representatives of the American people. It seems that they have forgotten this!
